Takreeya Hawkins

My Story

Takreeya Hawkins is a native of Camden, NJ. She graduated from Creative Arts High School as a dance major, and Camden County College (CCC) with an Associates Degree in Psychology. Immediately after graduating from CCC, Takreeya studied dance for two years at The University Of The Arts(UArts). Throughout her dance career Takreeya trained and performed with Halliday Dance and their award winning competition team, Xtreme Dance Academy, DCNS Dance Intensive, Reveal Movement and Grace Dance Theater in addition to her training at Creative Arts and UArts. Her choreography was featured in the 2016 production of Ntozake Shange’s “For Colored Girls....” by Camden Repertory Theater. She received the Pat Allen Scott Humanitarian Award in 2018. Ms.Hawkins has performed works by Lamar Baylor, Anthony Rhodes, Ali Willingham, Dara J. Meredith, Charon Mapp, Lauren Putty-White, Molly Misgalla, Tommie Waheed-Evans, and Kirven Douthit-Boyd to name some. Takreeya is also the associate director for the praise dance ministry at Kaighn Avenue Baptist Church in Camden, NJ, where she is also a minister of the Gospel, Sacred Arts and Liturgy. She is a Co-Director and company member for Camden Contemporary Dance Theatre LLC. This will be Miss Takreeya’s eighth season teaching at Dare 2 Dance.
